Immigrants Support
Standing beside families in crisis, so no child has to face uncertainty alone.
YATOM Immigrant Support helps vulnerable children and families in the United States who are facing sudden, life-altering hardships. Rooted in Jewish values that call us to care for the vulnerable, the program offers small, meaningful grants to help cover essential costs, so families can focus on staying together and staying safe.
There are immigrant families in desperate need and this corner is one of the places that we drop off meals for families with young children who are desperate for meals
A Family in Crisis
People reach out to us regularly with stories like this one. Recently, we learned about a family in our broader community facing an unimaginable hardship. A father living in the United States with legal status was suddenly deported. Overnight, his wife was left alone to care for their five children.
They’re now living in a trailer, doing everything they can to hold their family together. They’re navigating fear, uncertainty, and the daily challenge of meeting their children’s most basic needs. Recently, they faced the very real possibility of losing electricity and water, essentials no child should ever have to live without.
This is what vulnerability looks like. A mother trying to keep the lights on so her children feel safe at night. Children waking up each day hoping their world won’t shrink any further.
This is where community matters most. When families face crises, community support can be the difference between stability and further trauma. Helping cover essential utilities and making sure children have safe, consistent living conditions are simple acts with a profound impact.
Our tradition teaches us that caring for vulnerable children and families is a shared responsibility. When we step forward, we affirm that no family should face hardship alone. Together, we can be the steady presence that helps families weather their hardest moments.
A father was deported after his visa status changed, leaving his wife to care for their five children on her own. The family is currently living in a trailer (not the one shown in the photo, for their privacy and security) and needed assistance with their electricity and water bills.
