Rwanda Educational Initiative
Helping vulnerable children in Rwanda access education, dignity, and daily essentials.
The YATOM Rwanda Educational Initiative supports vulnerable children in Rwanda by helping meet essential needs connected to education, clothing, and daily care.
Rooted in Jewish values that call us to protect and uplift the vulnerable, this initiative provides small, meaningful grants that can make an immediate difference in a child’s life. Through our partnership with Hands of Mothers, YATOM helps children access school, basic necessities, and the support they need to grow with greater stability and hope.
Coats for Kids
Thanks to YATOM supporters, 22 children in a village in Rwanda recently received warm hooded sweatshirts and sturdy sneakers.
For families facing deep financial hardship, these practical gifts offer more than warmth and protection. They remind children and caregivers that they are seen, valued, and surrounded by care.

Therese and her husband work as bricklayer’s assistants, earning about $2.50 per day combined. With six children and the high cost of living in Kigali, providing basic needs is a daily struggle.

“This opportunity gives us hope, dignity, and the chance for a brighter future.”
Loic’s Story
Claudine has raised her two children alone for years. Without education or job training, she has faced impossible choices simply to keep food on the table.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter for our family.”
Nova’s Story
Rosine lost her parents during the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and later faced serious health and financial challenges. Today, she runs a small fruit and vegetable stall, earning just enough on good days to cover food.

“I’ve always dreamed of giving her a better life.”
